Connecting SRM with different back end systems

Dear all,

i would like to know the prerequisites for connecting an SRM system with different SAP R/3 systems of different companies. What BASIS settigs anf configuration must be taken into consideration.

Hi,

There are multiple area's where settings are needed in order to connect SRM to ERP backend systems. The SRM system can connect to multiple backend systems.

For the set up of Product categories if you wish to use backend product categories these will need to be replicated via CRM Middleware. It is the product category of an material/service that determines where the document will go eg. which backend system or if it remains within SRM.

In the SPRO customizing the main area that needs to be configured is the 'Technical Basic Settings' section. Here you define:

System Landscape

Backend system determination

Information about spooler

Settings for supplier synchronization

Then there are settings under the 'Cross-Application Basic Settings' section:

Numbers Ranges for SRM and the backend

Transaction Types

Enable use of XI (if being used)

Tax Calculation (and where it happens)

Account Assignment

...All of this can be found in the SPRO transaction of SRM.
