hi,

Please refer the below SAP note 19466.

when updating the kernel, check for the locations where dw_xml and the

other libraries are located. Run the commands "ldd disp+work" and

"dispwork -V" (you might also want to run truss 'dispwork -v' in

order to check which libraries are used by the kernel).

You should apply note 1104735 to activate the new instance-specific

directory.

UNIX systems

===========

The standard way for updating kernel patch is:

1. Bring down system and database.

2. Kill any processes that did not die.

3. Cleanipc

4. Tar up entire /sapmnt/<SID>/exe directory for possible need to revert

back to kernel.

5. Copy tar file to safelocation

6. SAPCAR the kernel SAR files in the EXE Directory.

7. Verify ownership/permissions of file for <sid>adm and those that need

to be for ora<sid> (such as brtools) and some for root (such as icmbnd)

(assume you're using ORACLE)

8. and FINALLY, start the SAP system

Windows systems

===============

1-. Get the lastest kernel patch following the SAP Note 19466

2-. Un-compress the kernel files into a new directory

3-. Stop the Service SAP<SID>_<Instance number> (On Control Panel ->

Services)

Distribution transaction co-ordinator

4-. Go to properties and Set this service "disable"

5-. Close the SAPMMC (Console)

6-. Check the service SAP<SID>_<Instance number> remains stoped

7-. Copy the folder D:\usr\sap\<SID>\sys\exe\run\

8-. Overwrite the executable files with the new kernel files on the

folder D:\usr\sap\<SID>\sys\exe\run\

9-. Start Service SAP<SID>_<Instance number>

10-.Go to properties set the service "automatic" again

11-.Open MMC

12-.Start SAP

If the problem remains:

- send us

- the current complete "WORK" directory

- the NT Event log (System log and Security log)

- the profile directory with the instance profiles

- the output of R3trans -d

I hope this clarifies.

Regards,

Naveen.
