Maintaining Hierarchy in SAP MDM

Is there any particular level upto which we can maintain hierarchy in SAP MDM?

Hi Prateek,

No I dont think there is any fixed no of nodes which we can call as upperlimit of no of nodes.

However 2 things should be kept in mind:

1.Hierarchy is also a lookup.Its a good practice from data ,modeling prespective to keep a cap on the total lookup data tp 30% of the entire data (Main table data plus lookup table data).

2.Importing the data involves flattening of the source data,so actual no of records to import increases.Beyond a certain point it can cause performance overhead.

Also nature of hierarchy plays a role in performance.
