Text substituted in material substitution

Hi,

I am using material determination to substitute 1 material by another while processing a sales order.

But my requirement is to substitute only material code and NOT the Description.

For ex:- I have 2 material say MAT1 & MAT2

MAT1 have description DESC1

MAT2 have description DESC2

I want to substitute MAT1 by MAT2

currently while substituting MAT1 with MAT2 the description in sales order is also getting changed from DESC1 to DESC2

but i want to keep description as DESC1 (Description of MAT1)

is it possible through standard setting?

Hi,

As far as I know there is no such standard functionality available to keep the description of the first material in case of material determination.

You will definitely have to go for a custom enhancement to do that!

In the material determination, initial material gets replaced by the new material. But you can always see the original material in the field "Material Entered" under menu path:

-> Go to / Item / Sales A, together with the corresponding substitution reason.

In t.code OVRQ, can you check the box Entry, against the substitution reason and try. If this does not solve, then by standard, it looks, there is no other option available.
