Hi,

In general when you are doing the client copy in the same system it's always better to with local Client copy i.e SCCL

Client Export/Import (SCC8) and remote client(SCC9) copies are good for copy across different systes ann you should perfrom Post processing activities if you done the client copy with any of the above two methods.

For Local client copy SCCL post processing is not required.

Why do you need second production client, As per SAP, there should be only one production client and second production client is not allowed.

Hi Venky and Arjun...

Thanks for the concern ... but SAP allowed us to create multiple clients ...

My question here is not about multiple clients but about copy of customization data from one client to another client ...

Hi,

Is there any specific reason for the method used?

Why not one step client copy from 100 to 150 using SAP_CUST profile?

SAP allows the client to be created, but you cannot or not suppose to name it as Production.

Coming to your question - What is the size of the TR ? what error you getting when you import the transport ?

Thanks

I'll breif it up ...

I did SAP_CUST in SCC8 in client 100 ...

I went to client 150 and opened stms_import where I manually added these two files (data and co-files) and added the TR's also.. but the TR symbols are in Red color.. indicating that TR's is not able to transport ...

in STMS_IMPORT --> in the menu goto REQUEST --> Target CLient and set (set the client as 150 ) Try again.

Did you include new client in the STMS path ?

I went to Request--> Target Client --> Both are masked ...

Did you check the client change options in SCC4 and SE06?

OK, Can you try setting Production client in client role as Test and save it.

set second client also as TEST and try again.

Hi Venky,

what are the settings to be done at SCC4 ...?

Former Member

you mean to say both clients we need to mark it as TEST client...

In addition to Arjun's suggestion, ensure the following in SCC4

1. Changes without automatic recording

2. Cross-client object changes -> Changes allowed

3. Protection level 0

Yes, you need to set both client as TEST in the client role and try again. Open the client as well in Target client as Venky suggested,

Hi Arjun / Venky,

Thanks a lot for the info .. its done..

Do we need to run Post processing for local client copy ..?

If we do system refresh, then I'm sure .. but for local client copy i'm not perfect...

Hi,

Since you have used export / import method, you should run Post processing.

Choose Tools u2192 Administration u2192 Administration u2192 Client admin.u2192 Client transport u2192 Postprocess

import.

But, generally post processing is not required if you perform local client copy using SCCL unless the log says that some component may need further post processing.

Hi,

Why not client copy from 100 to 150 using SAP_CUST profile?

Generally, it is not advisable to have multiple production clients on the same system.

Also, you can't have two client with Role Production on the same server.
