support package and enhancement package

Former Member

Hi experts

How can I know in which enhancement package I am? In T-code SPAM i can see all support package installed but I can't see enhancement package.

currently I am with SRM 7 and SP SAPKIBKV05, we wan to install support packages. Do enhancement packages are inside support packages? Or is it 2 differents things and ways to install?

How can I read informations and recommandations from SAP for each support package and content of support package?

I can see this link for SP11 for example : https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/spat/index.htm?sp1=SAPKIBKV11

Thank you .

Regards,

Peggy.

Hello,

If you have SRM 7.0 and SP05 you do not have any enhancement package.

SRM 7.01 = SRM 7.0 with EHP1

SRM 7.02 = SRM 7.0 with EHP2

If you have any SRM enhancement package, you would be able to see it under system -> status menu, component SRM_SERVER.

Ricardo

You should probably go through SAP support protal to understand the SP & EhP installation procedure and best practices.

Read the below best practice from SAP for EhP.

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50346c14-aabf-2c10-da82-fc169222e....

Now comming to Enhancement Packages and Support Packages. In simple words as the names says , enhancement is for additional or improved functionality provided for the application or module.

Whereas Support Package is nothing but corrections of errors delivered to customers.

You can check in SAINT what are the add-on components are installed in your system which has been added when you install enhancement package. These are the additional components other the the core components of an application.

Now you can see the same component in SPAM as well but with a different version and SP.

E.g. Component SRM_EXPL(SRM Extended Functionality for SRM_PLUS) and SRM_EXT(SRM Extended Functionality for SRM_SERVE) in SRM which has come as part of Ehp1 and may be further enhanced in other enhancement releases.

I would suggest you to check the SAP support portal for understanding what is delivered in Ehp and SP that you want to install and always SAP consulting services which can help you in theses areas.

support package is basically a bundle of notes serving design improvement..

enhancement package is something which can be business specific, this does change the core functionality.. you can know which package is required by your system by using business function prediction provided by SAP. this is free of cost.
