Problem With Adapter Engine

Hello everyone, I am pretty much a newcomer to this area of SAP-XI.I am trying to solve a particular problem, which deals with XI Adapter Engine. In the J2EE Visual Administrator, I can see that all the adapters viz. File,BC,JDBC,JMS..are showing <b>'Red'</b> status. When I try to start them ...I get an error message that it has hard reference to <b>com.sap.aii.af.cpa.svc</b>,which has not yet started.Is this an installation problem, or am I missing out on something? Any spidey-ideas?

One more thing: the XI runtime cache is showing me the status <b>"Cache Contents Are Obsolete"</b> and it is not letting me refresh the delta-caches. Any help in this regard is solicited.

Well suggested my friend..but somehow it's not working out for me!!!:-(
