Will Attachment Affect the SRM performance?

Dear Experts,

Is the attachment on shopping cart/PO/Contract stored in SRM database or stored as file in SRM server? When the amount of attachments grows huge, will it affect SRM performance? Many thanks!

transaction OAC0. check where you file system of the content server is mapped to..

if you are not using any archive path, then it is stored in the database cluster like BBPCONT**

so yes performance will depend on it if you dont archive the documents..

Hi Soumyaprakash,

I checked in OAC0, the detail of FILESYSTEM is:

-

Content Rep. FILESYSTEM Active 27 / 69

Description File System

Document Area

Storage type

Rep. Sub-Type

Version no. 0046 Content Server version 4.6

Contents table FSYSCONT

Phys. path /usr/sap/SRD/SYS/global/

-

I also checked table BBPCONT, there are million records in it. So does it mean attachments are stored in the table BBPCONT? It seems very crazy~~~

Hi Soumyaprakash,

Thanks a lot for your reply. But unfortunately I cannot archieve the attchement, it have to leave 5 years or more. Is there any way i can change the srm doc server to a real document server instead of database table? Will it affect history attachment data? Many thanks.

archiving wont take out your documents, we are juts using the archive server for your file storage.. you can access the attachments from the SC or PO even when they are in archive server.
