Trouble shooting system monitoring 7.1

Hello experts,

can anybody give some hints where to start searching for problems in system monitoring? I have connected SAP HostAgent and Diagnostics Agent successfully, the monitoring setup was successfull and I can see no data, no information in system monitoring...

Is there any chance to check if the agents provide the data or in which interfaces problems occur? What are the steps for trouble shooting? Sometimes SolMan 7.1 is really a black box for me...

Hi Basti,

You could start by making sure the system monitoring has been beend setup correctly. Please the PDF at the following SAP link:

1. Log on to SAP Service Marketplace using the Web address

http://service.sap.com

2. > Short Link RKT-Solman

3. > SAP Solution Manager 7.1

4. > Technical Operations

5. > Technical Monitoring

-> Setup system Monitoring and Alerting

Also the Solution Manager correctly needs to be configured which is done in the steps:

System Preparation and Basic Configuration. For each system that is to be monitored the managed system configuration needs to be done (previously called the Managed System Setup) which is the setup for Root Cause Analysis. please make sure that these steps have been performed correctly.

Regarding the SAP Host Agent there is an extensive document available that explains how outside discovery functions and on how to troubleshoot any issues related to it:
