Hello,
If you are looking for a procedure for PI systems (this is PI forum) please refer to the note:
[870864 - Starting and Stopping an XI 3.0 / PI 7.0 System|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/870864]
It was useful to me in order to avoid problems with messages in PI after system maintenance.
Cheers,
Diego.

Hi,
Find below procedure to restart Java stack.
1. Restart javastack from SMICM T-code by selecting administration menu J2EE Server soft shutdown with restart
2. Restart java stack using SAP console.(URL : http://<servername>:5<sys no>13). you can restart javastack on whole or by one by one javaserver node.
3. From Os level using JCMON.
Go to profile directory
JCMON pf=<instance profile>
select 30 (solid rock administration)
select restart instance option (you also have the option to restart java node individually).
after giving restart option press enter to refresh the screen.
