Additional Language problem in MIC - QS21

Former Member

Hi All,

I am creating a Master Inspection Characteristic with English log-in. While giving the short text, we have an option to translate the same into the Local user language (Spanish).

That is, I give the short text in English, then using the Additional language/Other language button, i am giving the equivalent translation in Spanish as well and saved it. Now when the user logs-in to SAP in Spanish and goes to Master Recipe's Inspection characteristic (C202), the short text for the above MIC is appearing in English only and not in Spanish.

But i want the short text to appear in Spanish. Can you please help me on this?

I don't know whether i am missing any settings for this.

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Vinodh

Hi Vinodh,

While giving the short text, we have an option to translate the same into the Local user language (Spanish)

I think, system doesnu2019t translate anything its own. What short description exactly you have put in other language tab?

e.g.

EN- LENGTH

ES -LENGTH

Whatever you type against ES the same text will appear when you log in with ES language.

Thanks Anand.

But the problem is still not solved.

I have given the translation in SPANISH only.

i.e., EN - LENGTH

ES - LONGITUD

To add to this problem, i just noticed that, when i log into SPANISH and go to C202 transaction and add the MIC, then the short text is coming correctly in SPANISH. But this time if i login in ENGLISH and go to C202, this same MIC's description is in SPANISH and not English.

To be very precise, the translation is not working at all.

If i add a MIC in C202 in English login, the same english short text is appearing in all the other languages login.

Similarly, if i add a MIC in C202 in Spanish login, the same Spanish short text is appearing in all the other languages login.

Even though i have maintained the translations in both English and Spanish at QS21 transaction, this translation is just not working in their respective languages and it is just picking the language in which the MIC is added in C202.

Please help!

Thanks,

Vinodh

I believe the issue is because you are using copy model MIC's or incomplete copy model mics.

What happens is that when you create a reciepe or plan with the mic that MIC is copied to the object and it copies over the translation you are currently using. Once copied into the plan or receipe, it stays like that unless changed. Which in most cases is usually ok since a recipe or routing is plant specific and most plants use either one or the other.

If you use a reference MIC I think you will see the language used when you log in.

The problem is that in receipes and routings we typically unlock the MIC's and as a result they are always copied MIC's, not referenced MIC's. In inspection plans you can often use referenced MIC's and the problem doesn't happen as much.

I don't think you will find an ideal solution for your problem.

Hello,

You may want to check out enhancement QEEM0032 for this:

-

You can use this customer enhancement to change the characteristic short

text in results recording. The changed characteristic short text is not

saved.

You should use the enhancement to display the characteristic short text

in other languages. We recommend you load the characteristic short text

from the master inspection characteristic. You can use the master

inspection characteristic as a referenced master inspection

characteristic or copy model.

Description of the Interface

The structure I_QAMKR contains the specifications and results for the

inspection characteristic.

The parameters I_QPMK_WERKS, I_VERWMERKM and I_MKVERSION describe the

master inspection characteristic.

The parameter I_LOS_SPRACHE contains the language in which the

inspection lot has been created.

The structure I_QALS contains inspection lot data.

If the export parameter E_MOVE_KURZTEXT = 'X', the short text (changed

in the enhancement) is copied.

The new characteristic short text is found in parameter E_KURZTEXT .

If the parameter E_SPRACHE is not set in the enhancement, the logon

language is used as the default language when you use the enhancement.

This parameter only applies for inspection characteristics in the

operation.

Note

If the enhancement has been activated, the long text for the master

inspection characteristic is displayed for copied master inspection

characteristics, and not the long text from the task list.
