Scripting Using Data View objects

I expect this is a rookie mistake. I have three fields I get from my interface that I wish to concatenate into one field on my form. I see lots of information about how to get information on form fields but nothing on Data/Models/ I've tried several iterations without success.

- I added a TextField to my form

- I set its type to "Calculated - Read Only" and selected "Calculation Script"

- I then created a "Calculated" script for the field and added the simple script below. Which I would have expected to put the

value of that data in the field. It returns nothing.

$record.TARGET_PROFILE.FIELD1

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. /Greg
