feature View associated Tables don't work.

Hello !

What in my Preferences I have to change that the Universe Designer can show me the View associated Tables.

Im using the 12.1.0.882.

I imported a existing Universe.

After succesful Import, I see the tables.

Than I drill in in a Folder on the left side with the Folder structure.

This shows me the Dimensions and Measures to the related Universe.

If Im clicking wiht a right click on one of this Dimensions I have the choice to let me show the associated Tables to this Dimension ... with "View associated Tables".

But in my case, The Programm is not reacting, And don't show or highligt any table, or change the focus that I can see the related table.

Which Preferences should be changed ?

Thanks

Werner

Hi,

it looks like you're testing a 'vanilla' XI 3.1 client tools build . (dating back to ~2008/9)

In order to be supported, you should be using XI 3.1 SP03 and above. (most customers are on XI 3.1 SP03 FP3.7, or XI 3.1 SP04 FP4.1, or XI 3.1 SP05)

I'd recommend you upgrade, retest and requalify your issue once you've benefited from 3 years of cumulative code fixes from our support teams.

Thanks Henry for answering !

Its not so easy ... :-).

1.) I can't upgrade because of the firm policy didn't allow me this.

2.) On other machines in the company this work. (all have the sam release .. )

So It should be only a thiny think in the preferences, I hope.

Yes i understand, but if you tell your IT or BO team, that "If you contact SAP Support whilst using this version, SAP will not be provided technical support because this version is 'out of maintenance' " .. then this might help influence things!

Here are some tests:

1. Try a different BO user on your machine - same issue?

2. Try a different universe on your machine - same issue?

3. Try your BO user on someone else's machine - same issue?

4. Try hardcoding a different DB user in the .UNV's connection - same issue?

5. try a different universe based on a different DB vendor/type - same issue?

Hello Henry !

Thanks for your reply.

But your answer goes in a complet wrong direction.

I get it solved by my self. Without any upgrade or Administration nighmare ( the product isn't so bad, like you insists).

The solution is:

Right click on your Universe Designer Main screen, than go to Options / change the view of the Option pane from General to Graphics and select on the bottom the "center on selection", and the product will make a good work to you.

with kind regards

Werner

P.S.: Product is updated.

Good news, and well done!

the reason i mention "versions" is:

1) Support - if you contact SAP Support, they will say "go upgrade first" - you are not supported on that version.

2) Regression - If your server is on SP02 or above (or different FixPack level), then everytime you Save and Export/publish content from your Client, you could be introducing defects into the coporate documents.
