Linked Universes concept can be used to link universes pointing to different data sources.

A Universe based on Excel can be linked to an Universe based on RDBMS.

Thanks for reply

I tried the linked universe concept but it is not working when I read in this topic in the universe design tool guide it indicated that

both universes should have the same database I cote from this book

("The core universe and derived universe use the same data account, or database, and the same

RDBMS.")

I also checked in the designer help it says the same condition

If you have idea how to do so please send me the steps

thanks

Hi,

Just combine the 2 sources in the front-end i.e. WebIntelligence - much easier to merge the dataproviders (queries) there

Or, create a new table in the db, insert your records there at source, and add a new derived table in the universe.

thanks for your reply

I already know these solutions but they are not suitable for my condition as I can't create new tables in the customer environment and I need to generate join between the excel and the table so I can't use the Webi

I need to combine data from different sources is it possible

If these are your constraints, then - No - it is not possible.

( Unless perhaps you are using BI 4.0 Information Design Tool, Multi Source Universe .UNX )

Create a SSU foundation where the table is supplied by your file.

then MSU it

Cheers,

H

p.s. but really, just do it in the webi interface
