Hi Gurus,
We are planning for go for new hardware with 64 bit from 32 bit .please share your experince...and advice .
Landscape:(32 bit)
PRD -ABAP only (Ecc6 sr3 sp19) Mssql server /windows 2003 - CIDB2 apps server in seperate hosts. -150 GB DATA
QAS - ABAP+JAVA
DEV - ABAP only
Planing for New hardware 64 bit (same OS/DB) CI+ DB in One host and application servers in Another hosts. (Vmware )
gone through system copy documents .But not clear about the export option which we need to select from source systems.(abap (prd, dev) ,abap+java (qas)
sap recommend to go for database specific method.will there any issue if i selects Database indepedent method instead of Database specific method.
Appreciate if you would share your experience ....
Thanks in advance
Hi,
For homogenous system copy, database specific method is simply straight forward. Copy the datafiles & log file from source to target. install mssql server and attach the database. Run sapinst for SAP installation, and it'll do the rest.
You need to adjust accordingly if change of hostname, ensure all changes are reflected in RFC, external applications, interface in your landscape.
Hope it helps,
Thanks,
Nicholas Chang

Thanks Nicholas Chang for your immediate response.
As per your reply , we need to follow the below steps:
1. Source : Take Database Backup from Source system.
2. Target : Restore Database From source Database backup
3. Target : Install Central system using System copy method.
If we are not exporting dump from source system , which file will select for Migration dump in Target server.
thanks again
Mathew
