Convertion of characteristics into SID taking too long in DTP. SAP BW 710

Hello everyone,

hope you are fine!

I have a question and would like to understand the following.

I am loading from a standard DSO into an InfoCube around 4 Mio records.

The DSO should be also available for reporting so the SID generation is active.

Checking the DTP monitor, it says that the most time is used for conversion into SIDs.

My question is why is this taking so long?

And what is it doint exactly?

Is there a way to reduce this?

Hi Ömer,

Yes, on theoretical level your assumption "If it is many to many it has to get all the possible relations which will take more time." is correct.

To practically confirm that use /n ST05 and /n SE30 and see concretely where is the time spend.

I just found a thread where the explanation is based on the relation type between characteristic and Master Data. like:

one to many

many to one

many to many

one to one

If it is many to many it has to get all the possible relations which will take more time.

Is this what you know too, or is there another explanation?
