Queries on NWDI and ADS

I have a separate box for NWDI installation.. with 16GB Ram and 4 processors.

I wanted to confirm if the SID of NWDI should be different as compared to my portal Dev/Qas/Prd ? and if any directory should be shared across them ?

ADS: Do we need to install ADS on AS Java based portal or it can be installed on AS Java based NWDI system described above.

Yes, you have to use different SID compared to portal Dev, QA and Prod.

ADS: Do we need to install ADS on AS Java based portal or it can be installed on AS Java based NWDI system described above.

It can be installed on either of the server for ABAP systems to use ADS

For a portal version 7.3 and NWDI based on AS Java 7.3, will I need to have NWDS 7.3 ? What is an update site ? Do I need to make that available for my developers ?

If Portal and AS Java both are 7.3, then its better to upgrade NWDS also to 7.3. if not, You might face deployment issues.

Hello Jay,

It's always recommended to have unique SIDs in the landscape. So you have to maintain unique SID for NWDI instance. ADS can be installed on any JAVA AS.
