hi guru's
I just wanted to know the diff btw system locks(sm12) and database locks(db01)
Hi!
Apart from the fact that DB01 shows Exclusive Lock Wait Situations and not locks themselves normally, the main difference between SAP-Locks and DB-Locks is that not every SAP-Lock has exactly one DB-Lock associated with it necessarily. It's similar to differences between SAP- and DB-DataDictionary. They're closely related, but when it comes to the details - worlds apart.

Jörg

hi hari gyara...
system lock is nothing but its GUI lock..like on same user if any user open any one transaction it will not open for the other persone who is using the same user id...
DB01 is nothing but enqueue process like it will lock the perticular table up to the user is realesed ..then it will be avilable for the other user....
thanks,
chaitan ya

Hi Hari,
The section 'Relationship Between SAP Locks and Database Locks' on the SAP Help Portal is useful for explaining the difference at the following URL:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f4/71aa036c874c308c1a819f05321137/frameset.htm
Hope this helps.
Regards, Mark
