SYSTEM COPY -- EXPORT STEPS

Hi Experts,

I have some doubts about export DB system copy,

-Do I have to stop SAP System before running sapinst or the tool stop it itself during the proccess?

-After I executed the report SMIGR_CREATE_DDL in tx SE38 it shows nothing in the folder I chose. Is this normal?

-The step R3szchk takes long time... is this normal? Our DB is 2TB

-The EXPORT directory is 850GB but DB is 2TB ... this could be a problem?

Regards.

Hi,

1) You need to refer Homogenous/Hetergenous system copy guide all the relevant steps for export and import

2) Basic thumb rules before export

a) Update R3TA, R3SZCHK, R3LOAD

b) Update database statistics

3) For 2 TB database size, Export dump shall not be 850 GB. Request you to re-check it.

Hi Deepak,

I have this error in sapinst log:

Unable to get information about path
LABEL.ASC\ using GetVolumeInformation. Operating system error message: The specified path is invalid.

This could be that sapinst is corrupted or something? I have NW 7.0 SR3 and the SAP System is ERP 6.0

The phase R3zchk is stuck.

On the other hand I have the lastest kernel version 310 for windows x64 mssqlserver.

I can't find as independent the R3zchk and R3load but the R3ta.

Regards.

Hi Jorge,

It looks like SAPINST is looking LABEL.ASC of export dump. Please check and compare the export that was given at "export location" screen.

R3zchk would take time as you have 2TB DATABASE. Also please have latest R3zchk,R3ta and R3load binaries.

Hi,

What do you mean with check "export location" .

I created a directory called F:\EXPORT.. and in this location I saw a file LABEL.ASC

This phase is stucked and nothing happened.

I have found R3ta.. but not R3zchk R3load .. I have the lastests Kernel 310 installed

Hi Jorge,

Export location is F:\EXPORT.

Do you see any query running at DB level?.Normally this step does "select *" from each table.

Thanks

Hi,

R3Load & R3szchk is downloadable in MS SQL SERVER not database independant.
