BW 7.0 to 7.3 upgrade activity Checklist

Dear Team,

We are planning to upgrade our BW system from 7.0 to 7.3 next month. For that We are looking for general BW 7.3 upgradation Checklist like Pre-upgrade BW activity and post-upgrade BW activity.(More interested in Related to BW activity not basis activity)

If you have such kind a check list then kindly provide it to us. Your help in this will be really appreciated.

Hi,

normally upgrade is divided into three main activities whether it is 3.5 to BI7 or BI7 to BI7.3

your checklist should remain same..

but ofcourse there are some BI7.3 specific documents as well.

The link given by Mr. Raghu is right document regarding Technical Upgradation.

If you are looking for specific Role of BW Consultant, Then check page No. 29 to 33 in same document. There are job mentioned for APPLICATION OWNER that is the nothing but BW Consultant itself.

Also you can find number like 552300 which is SAP NOTE number.

There is three phases are during upgradation

1) Prepare : System make ready for Upgrade by correcting any inconsistencies from BW System (Here we are running sets of programs mentioned in page 29 to 33, Please check SAP NOTE also for same. )

2) Upgrade : Done by BASIS Team.

3) Post Upgrade : First run same sets of programs which we had ran during Prepare, To find out any inconsistency occur during upgrade. If yes then we have to correct it manually.

Then we are doing testing part which mentioned by Mr. Sivaramakrishna

Hi Ashish,

For all Pre and Post Upgrade activities (not application specific tests), you can always use the ASU toolbox in either standalone or workflow form.

Please refer to SAP Note 1000009 for further information. Even if you do not want to implement ASU, you can still download the XML available in the note and prepare an excel activity sheet out of it.

The SAP Note 1000009 also contains a list for upgrading from 3.5 to 7.0x and from 7.0x to 7.3x

=> ASU toolbox is part of a mandantory Add-On in a NetWeaver based System which helds the lists (XML based and modifyable)

Modify an existing infopackage

2) Modelling

Creation and Execution of DTPwith filters(Dynamic and static) and without filters.
