Hi Gurus,
I have released a DIR with respect to an ECO and set the status'Released'. Then the ECO is completed and released, Now since that DIR is to be removed, I am trying to set the status on the DIR to 'Obsolete'. .However the system message that I get is
System status: the ECO is already completed
Message no. CC194
Diagnosis
You want to process and object (for example, BOM or document) with reference to the change number of an ECO.
System Response
The system checks that the system status of the ECO is not complete.
Procedure
The ECO you selected is complete.
You can no longer use this change number to change objects.
This situation could also occur when a new version of a DIR is to be released and the old version should be obsoleted. How is this process handled in SAP?
thanks
Hi,
The info Christoph supplied is correct. We faced the exact situation.

When you indicate that the DIR is to be removed/obsoleted,do you mean that a new version of the DIR is now available? If this is the case, then you need to re-design your DIR status network in such a way, that the moment a new DIR version is created, the previous released DIR is automatically(to avoid inconsistencies/confusion) assigned the obsolete status. Currently, your status network does not offer that flexibility(since your Released status is of locked status type).

Hi Rahul,
due to the fact that the change number is released, the Document info
record attached to this cannot be edited anymore. Because it's
controlled by the linked ECO. This is the functionality.
It is not possible to change the document info record, if the DIR has an
Engineering Change Order which is released. In this case, the DIR
remains locked and no changes are allowed.
as far as I know this behavior is very strictly and cannot be changed
that easy. For achieving such a functionality you would have to modify
the standard system behavior and I would not recommend you to such a
modification.
Best regards,
Christoph
