Hi All,

What is the minimum WAN bandwidth requirement for 50 users to access SAP ERP server from a remote site.

Also if there are sizing tools please advise.

Dear mutepfe

The bandwidth requirement is depend on several reasons. if you only using SAP ERP it should have around 256 - 512 bandwidth minimum. if you have 1MB its sufficient.

But you have to use this bandwidth for other services as well it should be more than this,

I'll provide you a required bandwidth if you provide the details requirements correctly.

Hi,

Might be useful for you,

Just copied from the SAP document - Front end requirements for SAP Business solutions

The following formula is intended to give you a basic idea of what network load may be expected. Note, however, that we strongly recommend that you conduct measurements on the most important

transactions yourselves.

C = X * N * D * 0.25

The parameters are as follows:

􀂃 C: Bandwidth in kbps that is needed for the SAP GUI

􀂃 X: Amount of data per dialog step in kilo bytes

􀂃 N: Number of active users (independent of the number of sessions)

􀂃 😧 Average number of dialog steps per minute per user7

􀂃 Numerical factor: ~0.25 = 8 (kb/kilo bytes ) * 1.25 (protocol overhead) * 1/60 (min/s) * safety factor

1.58 (response time, peak load, different technologies)

Note:

A minimum bandwidth of 56 kbps should be assumed for all SAP front-end applications, even with only one user for the network connection. Although generally a single user does not require this bandwidth, you must ensure that acceptable response time is available for each single request. If you 7 We assume the following user types: A low user performs approximately one dialog step every six minutes, a medium user performs two dialog steps per minute, and a high user with a think time of 10 seconds, performs approximately six dialog steps per minute. These considerations do not include system response time.

8 Corresponds to line utilization L=0.7 in the former formula.
