Rebuilding DEV from PRD - how to?

Hi folks,

we want to install Ehp5 in our HCM systems (ECC 6.0 incl Ehp4). Because of many reasons (internal needs) we want to copy PRD to DEV first, e.g. to get rid of some inconsistences and other old stuff.

Our 1st attempt was a major goof.

We comlied with note 130906 (versions db) - that was ok so far.

To save the history of all requests (se10) we saved tables E070, E071 (after the rebuild we still need all information about requests including the objects and transport logs). After the rebuild of DEV we imported the tables. Now we have other inconsistences e.g. at least AVERS (checked out by SAP) so we can't go on installing Ehp5.

We rebuilded DEV once a couple of years ago (4.6c at that time). So I know that a rebuild should be possible.

Is there anybody with experiences in rebulilding DEV?

Regards,

Steffen

Hi,

Could you please clear what do you mean by rebuilding your DEV from PRD ? If you want to sync both the systems then why are you saving tables and re importing them.

You can simply do a client refresh from production to development system without copying application data as it is not advisable to copy production application data to development system.

Later on again you can manually add your transport request in development system if there are any. Please keep in mind that client copy will not bring any cross client data and also if you will add any transport request then version of objects may differ after client copy, so, you can get some issues in transports.

Thanks

Sunny

Hi Sunny

we know that the way we did isn't recommended by SAP. Anyway... We need a refresh because the organizational management and the training catalog are both quite outdated. Furthermore we detected some inconsistencies customizing tables in DEV so we wanted to clean up by an easy way. As I mentioned we refreshed DEV once a couple of years ago without any problem.

How can we do a client refresh PRD -> DEV? Especially "simple"?

Steffen
