Open document URL from CV03N failed

Hi,

we have ECC 6.0, 7.20 Sap GUI. With CV01N i created a document which original file points to a URL. The application was automatically set (PDF), everythins looks fine and i saved the document.

When i try to open the original file with CV03N i get the following error: "File <url to file> could not be accessed".

I can not find any SAP notes about this issue. This is not a 50 char limitation problem. Even urls with <50 chars could not be open.

Is there any way to open the file through the URL ?

which explains in details the necessary customizing steps for this behavior. However please note that HTML orignals have not to be stored anyway because they are already stored on an internet server and therefore these kind of originals don't need to be checked in.

For most of the SAP transactional objects, we have Generic object services (GOS) link at the top.Through this, we can attach document or URL. As an alternativey ou can use attaching URL functionality of GOS.

thanks for your info.

It works when i manually set HTM as application. But when i have a URL like http://www.sap.com/info.pdf then application PDF is automatically set, and then the URL is not opened and i get the error.

Is there a way to set HTM as default application for a specific document type e.g. ZSR ?

Yes,its quite possible to default a Workstation application to a document type.In DC10,where you define a Document type,there is an option 'Default Appl.'.Checking this ensures that the selected Workstation application is set as default when creating an original files and its additional files.

Hi,

i defined the default application in DC10 but it has no effect.

Anyway - now i have the problem that in some cases the application is not set -> OSS note to SAP

When the application is set, then i can succesfully open the document-original-file by URL.

We are facing the same problem with opening an external URL with SAP DMS.
