numc type object appears as character type in BO

Hi,

Does anyone have experience working with numc type in BO? In BO universe the object appears as character type.

I need to be able to work with the object in BO as a number (sort for example). What are the options (in BO or in BW) for doing this?

Hi,

I assume that you are talking about BO XI 3.1 universes.

NUMC are only supported as string because long numeric are currently not supported.

If you turn the object data type to numeric, an error will be generated by the underlying OLAP driver.

Yes, I am working with BOXI 3.1 and that is the error message I got when I tried changing the data type to numeric.

So what option do I have if I need to sort the numc field as numeric?

Hi,

The solution is not at the universe level but in the Web Intelligence document.

Create a document variable referencing the NUMC object and set the data type to numeric.

Thanks for your answer, but that gives me a solution on the document level only.

We're hoping for a solution on the universe level so that it will be available for other documents as well. Do you have an idea how that can be done?

Did you try with Object property and change the data type to NUMBER.
