precautions while installing business content in sap bi

Dear Experts,

In SAP BI Implementation one of the major task is Business content Installation.

So can any one please tell me what are the list of Precautions that we have to take aport form Match (X) or Copy tick.

hi,

please take care of following points while doing this activity:

1) Assign relevant source systems.

2) Group objects that are to be included, determine collection for the objects are in which mode

3) Transfer the objects to Collected Objects. and also Check the settings for those ,

then Install and check for Active Version of avialbale .

4) Make settings in the selection list and Transfer.

when simulate installation check for errors and then try to resolve them and install

Hi,

check following threads

in business content there are many objects so you need to be sure which objects you need to install.

so say flow before and after..if you install everyting there are 1000 of such objects and transport becomres very difficult

also you need to see how existing BI objects are getting impacted..

Go for Manual collection insted of Automatic.

Dont install object which is installed already - All installed objects will appear in Green color status under install option.

Better to go with in data flow before.

If you have to use standard reports then install reports also - other wise no need.

Take care of business content transformations - Usually - we need to migrate update rules and transfer rules into transformations - use SAP PROVIDED ROUTINES/logic has to convert into BI version.

i.e., logic's are in older version - comm_structure - Change these coding into BI version i.e., RESULT_PACKAGE.

Take care of Certain BI components like DB objects (Den & Bradstreet), which are Non-sap objects. Enable them to install - Go to edit menu - enable Bi components - select D & B.

Hi Anjan,

Apart from copy and match option you need to take care of other few things also,

1) The object collection method-----Manual or Automatic.

2) The data flow selection --- it is very important that which data flow method you select, necessary objects or flow before or after.

And finally before you go for any installation, always do the simulation from Install option. This will make sure that current BI content installation will not fail while running in actual mode. As simulation will show you if any error are there in current installation.
