Registering a program

Former Member

Hello,

I am asked to register a program.

I did it in sm59 :

Create a new TCP/IP connection via SM59. Use connection type 'T'.

In technical setting I chose program id, gateway host and gateway service, I saved ... I tested connection. It works OK.

in SMGW -> also if I go to logged clients, it shows me the program.

but customer still says the program is not registered.

I have no idea what else to check and what to reply,

Can you please advise ?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Daniel,

As per my knowledge, nothing special happens when you "register" a program. It works just like: the sender and the receiver system both need to use the same gateway host, gateway service and program name, and that is enough to have them connected. So I suggest that you make sure both sender and receiver system use the same program ID (which is the case as I assume, as your connection test is successful). Maybe what they expect you to do is "initialize" the connection with sending some IDoc message through it?

Hope this helps,

Greg

Hi Grzegorz,

Maybe this is what they want, how do you do it ?

I can propose this to them.

Thanks,

Dan

Dear Daniel,

Actually, the way of sending IDocs depend on the actual scenario. But you can ask them first if this is what they expect you to do, and in the meantime describe your requirement a bit more here for further help. Or alternatively, you can ask them to describe how precisely they are doing the connection test and why do they say that program is not registered, and post their reply here, maybe we could help you from this point of view.

Hey Greg,

You are right, I'll ask them.

Will keep you updated. Anyway, now it is already too late 21:21 in here.

Write you soon,

Thanks.

Hi all,

Indeed what I was doing in sm59, was enough.

Customer formulated his request in a wrong way.

Thanks all for support.

I really appreciate it!!

RFC communication channel (sender): use the same program ID that you created in the rfc destination

RFC destination: pick the Registered server program radio button option in the technical settings/activation type.

Hi Baskar,

Already done this too. I chose Registered Server Program button & program id is the same.

Thanks too,
