MESYS pwd is not accepted ~ Possible Glitch

NW 7.1 SP05

MII 12.2.2 Build 228

ME 5.2

ECC 7.1

I have started the SAPMEINT CTC wizard and I am getting an error on the MESYS password.

Validation Error: error during validation : com.sap.tc.lm.ctc.metamodel.exception.ActionExecuteException: Service execution error; invocation target error when calling method maintainUser in class com.sap.ctc.util.core.services.UserFacade of component sap.com/tclmctcutilcore_ear (error message = Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon))

                                          • SOLUTION *************************

I reviewed NWA UME and see that the MESYS user has been created, but it does not have any of the roles that the installation guide says the wizard will attach to it. I started thinking about how users are created in MII and how they need an initial pwd that must be changed when you log in for the first time. I change the pwd in NWA to a generic (qwe123) pwd knowing I will have to change it in MII before proceeding with the configuration.

Open MII and log in as MESYS and then change the pwd to the pwd you wish to set in the CTC wizard.

Log out and takeover the CTC session in NW

Once this takeover occurs, it will succeed with the pwd and proceed to the next step.

************************************************************

This is not mentioned in the installation guide and I have not found this issue anywhere on the sdn or the web. Is this an issue that SAP is awareof, is this common knowledge amoung the ME community or is this localized to my installation instance?

Hi Chip (or anyone else who might know),

Has ME 5.2 been validated on MII 12.2?

I know the documentation states 12.1.8.9 as the MII version and we are on 12.2, but isn't this issue related to Netweaver as this pertains to the UME?

Hi Chip,

I do not know for sure. SAPMEINT is based upon both NW and MII, so the integration of 12.2 may have some effect on how it performs. I suggest that you open a new thread on the ME forum to see if someone there knows whether 12.2 causes any issues with ME 5.2.

Mike

I am now configuring the SAPMEINT on MII 12.1.8.9 as stated in Note 1334061. The MESYS is still throwing an error so I set it in NW as a technical User and hard set the pwd. I have to log on and log off into MII using the same session (second tab) as MESYS and then refresh the tab that was executing the wizard. This forces me to log back into the wizard (use the admin credentials to continue). I then can "Take Over" the running transaction. Even though I can pass the MESYS pwd issues, it appears in step 96 and beyond.

Failed steps (10)

Verify SAP NetWeaver Password Policy

Verify if MESYS User Exists

Create or Update MESYS User

Assign Role_SAPMEINT Role to MESYS User

Assign SAP_XMII_User Role to MESYS User

Assign SAP_XMII_Administrator Role to MESYS User

Assign SAP_XMII_Developer Role to MESYS User

Assign SAP_XMII_DynamicQuery Role to MESYS User

Assign SAP_XMII_Read_Only Role to MESYS User

Assign SAP_XMII_Super_Administrator Role to MESYS User

I am able to skip these steps and I later simply applied the roles to MESYS in NW. I am not exactly sure why MESYS is causing errors as I have a pwd that NW's UME accepts.

Couple of other issues I have found during this installation that I think can be corrected if I have some information to do this manually.

The guide calls for Schedule Editors Jobs to be updated and started. There are none on my list. Can I get a list of names and transactions that need to be started?

Also, I had to create a Message processing rule when configuring the listener. What is the transaction for this rule as this was not listed in the guide during the set up?

Hi Chip,

You are now asking very ME specific questions and there are many more folks on the ME forum who will be able to provide your answers.

Mike
