SNP Supply forecast (Complex design requirement)

Hi,

We are using DP and SNP (with CTM engine) for planning and replenishment for our client, and the project is in build phase.

One of the requirement is that, DP will release supply forecast along with the demand forecast separately to SNP.

The reason for doing this, the business expects some quantity of returns and we want to plan that as receipt element.

We don't have QM module, so a Quality stock with a release date is not an option.

We tried doing this to through selecting a receipt element order type and releasing the value from DP to this one KF. But, the planning book reads it as a demand element only (with negative qty), even if the order type allocation is as receipt element.

Through some work around we made the figure as positive, but, CTM engine is still not considering this as a receipt element.

We are also taking help from SAP on this. But, the matter is still pending and we are still working to find a way to solve this.

Please suggest, if you have any suggestion here.

Thanks,

Amit

Hi Amit,

Need some clarification here...Do you mean supply forecast is availability of material in the future? Is this availability is for same product or component?

If you are already projecting returns than why cant you reduce forecast itself?

Could you please requirement in detail?

Hi Harshil,

Demand forecast finalization and return forecast is being done by two different teams. For managerial decision making and reporting we need the visibility of both of them independently. And there is some more business processes involved due to which we can't net the demand forecast in DP by subtracting the supply forecast from demand forecast.

One of the options in these cases, may be to assign supply forecast as inspection lot with a release date. But, we can't use that as we don't have the QM module and we don't want to use it. The design looks complex, but, siince SAP was involved in the design we can't say it is wrong. In fact, this approach worked fine with heuristic. But, CTM engine is not considering a KF with order type selected as receipt element as receipt in CTM run.

Thanks,

Amit

Ok. so let me take it as you are assigning this qty to some category which is assigned to keyfigure and is part of total receipts. Heuristics takes in to account total receipts.

For CTM, do you have supply categories defined in supply profile? If it is missing in that profile that might be causing this.
