JCMON does not start

I'm using a NW 7.3 JAVA only based EP system. This is a newly setup system with default parameters. I am able to start the portal and login from the main page.

However, I'm unable to start jcmon..

<SID>adm 16> jcmon pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_J00_<HostName>
JCMon is an internal tool for interactive usage.
Suspending it or running it in the background may have unexpected and undesirable effects.

Can't open shared memory administration (rc = 3)

This gives below error in dev_jcontrol process :

I tried to shut down portal --> run jcmon pf=... -c for cleanup of shared memory --> cleanipc --> start portal again --> run jcmon.. that gives same error

Do I need to expand the shared memory with VA /Cfg tool knowing that portal starts fine ? Is there anything more I can check before working with mem parameters...

Thanks,

Jay,

Try to clear the JCMON shared memory using below cmd and execute again.

jcontrol pf=/usr/sap/SID/SYS/profile/SID_DVEBMGS*_sapd** -c

refer to below link which explains the error message and fix

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/12/bb0a412a06f023e10000000a155106/frameset.htm

As a last option, restart the server and try again.

Thanks,

Arjun

I didn't suggest you to shutdown portal using JCMON. Suggested to clear shared memory for JCMON using jcontrol command...Check the command that I pasted and Did you check the link ?

Hi,

I did not shutdown the portal using jcmon ... The above sequence meant I

- had shut down the portal (stopsap)..

- then used jcmon pf=... -c to clear the shared memory..

- started the portal (startsap) and used jcmon again..

Any further guess ?

Dear Jay,

since 7.1 it's JSMON, JCMON is only for internal usage now.

Kind regards,

Gerd

Hello Jay,

As far as I remember, JCMON is no longer exist as of release 7.10. JCMON is replaced with JSMON. Please try JSMON and se.

Thanks,

Siva Kumar

Hi Anosh,

I was using sybase database. So I have released the space for transaction logs and archive logs by using the above script. Do the same according your database.
