Allocation table and merchandise distribution

Hi experts,

We have a requirement to be able to create an allocation table for articles at the DC which are setup in master data as cross dock, but we do not wish for this to create a collective order, this should instead create a delivery from the DC to pick the article from put away.

The business scenario would be: the DC has some stock in storage (for whatever reason) and that the normal supply route is cross dock from vendor via that DC. The business has decided they wish to push out the stock they have but do not want to change the normal supply route, as this would disrupt normal fulfilment.

Bit of background information:

We have three storage locations configured, 0001 for put away, 0002 for cross dock, 0003 flow through. These are coupled with merchandise distribution profile of NULL for put away, ZCD for cross dock and ZFT for flow through.

The example configuration of this scenario would be, the article is setup as 0002 ZCD at the DC but we wish for Merchandise Distribution not to execute and for an outbound delivery to create for storage location 0001 rather than 0002.

I've seen a number of config parameters on the allocation table and item category around merchandise distribution process and how to force it to be something other than the normal, but unsure on the usage.

I do expect somewhere we will need to develop in a BAdi / exit to change the data, but want to limit this to the minimum.

Any help or pointers would be great.

Many thanks,

David

Hello,

For handling this special case, when you create allocation table, DC can be manually entered as the Vendor in stead of auto-determination of external vendor. in this case, your requirement is to issue stock from storage location 0001. You may configure a stock determination strategy using the menu path SAP Customizing Guide > Materials Management > Inventory Management and Physical Inventory > Stock Determination > Determine Strategies for Stock Determination and maintain the same in article master DC level view. In that case, goods issue will take place from 0001 when outbound delivery is posted for the Stock transport order.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Hi Venu,

The DC is automatically determined as the source, not the vendor. The logical relationship is Store > DC (STO) then DC > Vendor (Collective PO).

The problem I have is this would automatically be available for merchandise distribution.

Many thanks,

Hello David,

If the vendor determination takes place correctly, the goods issue storage location can be configured in the configuration path suggested above. If you have stock at 0001, it can be given highest priority to issue from there. If there is no stock there, it will be issued from cross dock storage location 0003.

Thanks,

Venu
