Oracle Data Guard Switchover problem

Former Member

Hello, we got a data guard configuration with 2 databases, both with db_name=PRD, and one db_unique_name=PRD (the primary), the other db_unique_name=PRDSTND (the standby)

The redo shipping is ok, but when I try to switchover, the sap instance tries to connect to PRD and fails. What can I do to have the instance up with this new db_unique_name PRDSTND?

thank you in advance

This is a normal behaviour, because the configuration in the SAP profile is referring to the old PRD database host. By the switchover operation, you just switch primary database to standby and vice versa.

At the end of the switchover operation, you should configure the new primary database host in the SAP profiles. Plus, you should configure tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files under /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/oracle and the enviroment variables, if it requires.
