Changing the item number as desired..

Hi Experts,

Users want to enter manually a item number in VA31 to have this material at a specific place in the schedule agreement.

When exists a contract, the system doesn't take into account the line number entered by the user and enforce a new line number

I didn't find any standart solution to avoid this behavior

For example for the first line item number user wants to enter 5 instead of default 10 and if there is an already existing open contract is there the system is not accepting the same.

Checked by giving external number range and also by removing the internal number range but couldnt suceed...any ideas on this...

Hi,

I dont think what you need is possible. The external number range is possible only for the SO as a whole, but not for individual line item.

Line items are numbered as per the incremental numbering logic for the benefit of system integrity. Hence the facility of changing the item number is provided to the users.

SAP uses this number to track the document flow and lot of other things. Hence it is not advisable to make this entry manual. Even if you enter some value, it will be overwritten based on the number increment of the particular item category. It is better to leave it the SAP way.

BTW..Just curious to know why you need this functionality. It doesnt give users or processes any distinct advantage.

HI,

Go to T.code VOV8 select your document type in that Item no.increment mention 5 so the system will give the no for line item as, for first item 5 second item 10 and third 15 ......

Is your question related to Scheduling agreement during creation...or during change? and how the contract is related to the scheduling agreement?
