Hello,
1.
"i am new to maxdb.plz can any one tell me who is the power user for MAXDB.
dbadmin,control,dbm."
please let us know the database version you have.
Are you SAP customer? < If yes, we could give you the references to SAP note and SAP documentation.
Without output of "select * from users" and checks of the database logs, it's not possible to tell you what types of the users you have in your database.
What do you mean about the power user for MAXDB?
More about MAXDB users you could read at MAXDB library, for example, at
http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/default.htm -> Database Administration ->
Please read "Managing Users" document first.
At this document you will see the list of SAP MaxDB Standard Users. It's dependent if you installed the database using SAP instalation tool or created instance using DBMGUI ...
Then click on "Database System Administrator" and "DBM Operators" and read about SYSDBA and DBM users.
Let us know if you still have further questions on MAXDB users topic.
2.
"and secoundly can we login to maxdb poweruser using operating system authentaction without using passowrd."
If the XUSER entries set correctly for OS user then you could login to the database using the user "key".
More about XUSER tool you could read at MAXDB library, for example at
http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/default.htm -> Tools -> Utilities -> XUSER

Hi
sorry for too late post.
My problem is still pending here is my problem detail . can any one help
i install maxdb version 7.8.01
i forget the master password that i set during installation.
now if there is any way to logon to database or there is any way to reset the password for DBADMIN user.
the main problem is i am unable to logon to database.
Hi Taimurkhan,
Iu2019m afraid I donu2019t think there is an easy way to reset the passwords for your MAXDB system if the XUSER solution hasnu2019t solved your issue. Iu2019ve heard of people raising support calls with SAP over this but what results that brings I donu2019t know. However it is possible to manually patch the .upc (user profile container) file but should be considered a last resort as it would be easy to make your system unrecoverable/unstable and require restoring from a backup.
If you have no other option have a look at - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8Wy_x3zsS0
Kind Regards
Matt
Hi,
In MaxDB control is a super user and superdba is a default DBM user.
you cannot login without a password using control & superdba users.

Hi,
You could change the password of the control user using DBMGUI:
A) if you are able logon as SYSDBA user < by default - SUPERDBA/admin >;
B) Stop database; database is in offline mode;
C) Top menu-> Instance-> Configuration -> DBM Operator;
Display properties of the control user ->
Password : < Change ...>
Click on bottom < Change ...> -> Change password
D) Disconnect the database;
E) Connect to the database as control user with the new password;
F) For SAP systems, please pay attention to the note ::
39439 XUSER entries for SAP DB 6.x and 7.x
If you are SAP customer please review the SAP notes:
767598 Available documentation
25591 Changing the DBM, SYSDBA and DBA user passwords
Please review the document "Changing the Passwords of Standard Users " at ::
http://maxdb.sap.com/currentdoc/ca/69d8b637f1bb4d913c877c1ab33b73/content.htm
<http://maxdb.sap.com -> We have updated the documentation for MaxDB 7.6.
To read the new documentation online, go to
http://maxdb.sap.com/currentdoc/default.htm -> Basic Information ->
MaxDB Security Guide -> User Administration and Authentication ->
Changing the Passwords of Standard Users >
Another option
Logon as <sid>adm user & run command

Here you can view the user,password,database name etc.
!!!!! < NK: password ?? , No you will NOT see the password... try it. >
