Data base Backup in hard disk

Hi Friends ,

I am new in sap Basis .I need to take the database backup of our R/3 server to the Hard disk . What are the parameters have to change into the init <SID>.sap file . kindly tell me step by step process of Database backup .

My SID is EUT

version ecc 6.0

Data base : Oracle 10 g

Please share the error log as per the DB13.

Set the following values in init<SID>.sap

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_root_dir = <backup_directory>

Start the backup using DB13 or brtools.

I have all ready tried but I could not get the data on backup_directory .May i know that mandatory steps to fallow for DB13 for full Database backup . and also may i know that the steps to take the data base backup by BR* tools.

Hi Saurav,

Please check with following parameters

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_type = online

backup_root_dir = <path of backup folder>

Also let us know the issue you face with previous configuration.

if the Data base is SQL server 2005 then how we will take the backup in Hard Disk

Hi Saurav,

You can use MSSQL Enterprise Manager, Database backup wizard to take backup. Using this wizard you can define the location of backup on disk.
