Hi All,
We are planning OS and DB upgrade of our ECC Server which is currently running on windows NT 32 bit and DB as SQL Server 2006(32 bit).
The new OS and DB which we wanted is Windows 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008.
I am following SAP note : 960769.
What I have understood is that we can export the existing system and import it during installation same as we do a homogenous system copy.
Need your help, if you can suggest me some other way of doing this.
Best Regards,
Sharib Tasneem
Yes, a Homogeneous system copy is exactly what you need to do.

Hi,
check the Note 960769 - Windows: Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit (x86_64)

Hi Sharib,
Refer SAP note 666805 - MS SQL Server: Migrating from 32-bit to 64-bit
You need to create a parallel instance on 64-bit environment in addition to your existing SAP instance. This will help you in reducing the downtime and a smooth migration.
