Installation error of Solution Manager 7.1 using SAPinst

Hi all,

I'm trying to install solution manager 7.1 in a virtual machine, with Windows Server 2008 R2 installed.

It is a from scratch installation and NOT an upgrade.

When i launch SAPinst (as an Administrator), i choose Solution Manager installation option : Central installation.

Then i choose a typical installation.

When i click on next i have the following error :

Running msiexec failed with return code 1603 : Fatal error during installation.

Commandline was

misexec.exe/norestart/L vcredist_x64.log/i vcredist_x64;msi/qn

If you want the installer to retry, choose Yes.

If you want the installer to abort the installation, choose No.

In the SAP Note 1578091, it is told to change TMP environment variable then continue the installation. This solution didn't work, we got the same error.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

have you logoff/login after changing the tmp?

Also, you can manually downlaod vcredist from microsoft and install. Ensure UAC is disabled.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Actually i found out where the problem came from.

The solution Manager DVD was on the desktop. I just had to copy it to the C: drive. I relaunched SAPinst, and it worked.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

You can find the file in the inst_master os_db relevant section under NTPATCH folder!

Goto this folder and Install it with this command:

msiexec.exe /norestart /L vcredist_x64.log /i vcredist_x64.msi /qn
