Renaming a user id in Production server

HI All,

Renaming (SU01) a user id in Production server is their any impact on licensing part & etc

Possible impacts and etc

Hi

There is no option of renaming user-id in sap,You can copy it to new user-id,Don't delete the user initially,Please lock it and set the validity date.If you delete the ID all logs of the user too get deleted,It can be deleted after some period if necessary.Locked user with no validity don't affect the licensing.

Before Locking the id Please check any background job scheduled in it,best practice is to scheduled job from basis id not from respective user

what is the bets practice ?

actually i am having 50 users in production server .

My client i s asking remove 6 users and create 6 users with different roles

Now i am planning renaming the six users

Please suggest which one is the best practice

Hi,

When you rename users, you need to manually adjust the new user in following areas

1) Background jobs

2) Worfklows ( if any)

3) RFC connections ( if any)

4) JCOs if any

5) LDAP integration if any

Impact on existing data won't exists.

This is what I feel would be an ideal practise .

Hello,

I would suggest you to delete and create new user ids instead of renaming them. If that user is maintained in any RFC destination or background job then it would be a problem.

There is no advantage of renaming user but disadvantages are there like said above.

Hi,

If your client is asking for deleting 6 users and create 6 users, I dont understand ,why you want to rename it.

Just delete it and create new users with their resppective roles.

There might be issue in deleting the users, only when these users might be used in RFC connection or LDAP, or SLD.

So please make sure that in all configuration purpose their are system or service users used.

Apart from that there is no license issues, nor any system issue.
