Hello,

I have an old machine with a sap system that is not used anymore.

I would like to uninstall sap.

/usr/sap/trans is not nfs shared.

I was thinking of removing the init/rc scripts, /usr/sap, /sapmnt and /oracle, /home/<SID>adm.

Are there files/directories that I have forgoten?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Benoit,

In addition to the file systems mentioned you need to remove entries from

/etc/password

/etc/group

/etc/hosts

To ensure that no trace of old installation exists.

I would suggest you to run SAPinst and then select "Uninstall SAP " from lifecycle management option. You need to select drop database as well.

Once this is done you can clear off the filesystems.

Hello,

I do not have the sapinst for this old install.

su@onyx1:// find / -name sapinst -print

/usr/sap/SSM/DVEBMGS00/SDM/root/origin/sap.com/tc/sapinst

/usr/sap/SMD/J98/sapinst

==> These are only sapinst directories.

I have also thought about /var/opt/oracle.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Benoit,

You will be required to use installation Master DVD for your SAP release. Run sapinst to uninstall SAP from the DVD.

Benoit,

If you are deleting all the files and directories, then entries will related to SAP in OS file systems will remain, like users, services etc..

Might be database instance will remain there which will give you error when you will install another instance of SAP in system.

As suggested by Deepak you should uninstall it using installation master CD or format the system bro. just kidding.

Just remove services entry and users, rest delete all SAP file system. If you will face any issues then it can be resolved, so go with it if you dont have installation master CD

Hi Benoit,

You need to have S-user Id to download Installation MAster DVD from SAP Server Marketplace.

you can browse to http://service.sap.com/swdc

Select your installation to get a list of DVDs specific for that installation.

Above steps to be followed only when you do not have physical DVD with you or dumped somewhere in the network share.
