Contract Migration

Hi All,

When we are importing Master Agreements through contract importer wizard in Sourcing 7.0 , we have observed that even if we do not populate custom mandatory fields, the record will get uploaded successfully and will not throw any error during or after the import.

But if go inside the particular Master Agreement for which we did not populate custom mandatory fields, and then change something and try to save again, then system throws error.

Is it the standard system behaviour during contract migration that it does not throw any error during import if the field is custom mandatory as if the field is standard mandatory the import generally fails and the record does not get created.

Can we control this behaviour somehow?

Regards,

Saurabh

Hi,

This is a standard behavior. Remember that the template provided by the system does not have any of the custom fields that have been created. The template simply contains the out of the box fields and when you upload this template during migration, it naturally looks for only those fields which are available in the OOB template. Though one thing that I have observed that the data validation is done. E.g. if you have a custom field with a list of dropdown values and in the template you specify some value which is not in the dropdown. Then after the import is complete, it does throw an error specifying the value was not found during import.

I dont think there is a way to control this behavior though it would be good to take the opinion of others as well on this Forum.

Hope this helps,

Vikram
