SAP XI-CONS - Is this mandatory on new installation

Hi All,

What does the component - XI CONNECTIVITY SE 7.11 - do on PI?

Is this mandatory on a new PI 7.11 installation for PI to work properly?

The system came up good? Not any working interfaces though.

Hello

This component contains the [Plain J2SE Adapter Engine|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/6f/246b3de666930fe10000000a114084/frameset.htm]. This is a very basic version of PI and contains only 4 adapters.

Is it mandatory?

No, it is most unlikely that this component should be installed on the same host machine as PI.
