Folks
I am hoping that someone can help me out and point me to some documentation that states that you could configure EWA without SAPRouter.
My client doesn't want to use SAPRouter (I know ... I know) and I would really appreciate it if you could refrain from pointing me to any documentation that details the advantages of using SAPRouter. Bottomline, I need a way to setup EWA without SAPRouter.
I am guessing that since the EWA report is generated and without an email connection would just sit in the mailbox, we could download it manually and send it to SAP ? Is that assumption correct ?
Please advise.
Thanks
Sridhar
Hello,
SAPROUTER is not required to generate EWA reports.
Connections between Mnaged systems and Solman are VIA RFC for ABAP and SMD for Java systems.
The connection to SAP is to maintain Service Defintions, Service Content, and to send EWA data to SAP.
Service Defintions can be updated via a transport - see Note 727998
Service Content is updated in each SP

Hi,
This is already a best practices document for setting up EWA for ABAP systems.
http://service.sap.com/solutionmanagerbp
EWA Activation.pdf
The question was can you create an EWA without SAPROUTER....so this blog is not relevent
Again, SAPROUTER would only be used for
1) Updating Service Defintions can be done via transport see note 727998
2) Service Content Update ( Can be updated via SPs)
3) Sending EWA data to SAP ( not required - optional)
Thererfore the answer to the question remaines - No, SAPROUTER is NOT required to create and generate EWA Reports.
An OLD BLOG showing how to setup uo SDCCN for EWA is not an answer to this question.

Paul
Hello Dridhar,
you can found information about benefits to use saprouter connection on that link:
some advantages that you can found on that link are:
- Control and log the connections to your SAP system.
- Improve network security, password, which protects.
- Allowing access from particular SAProuters only.
- Only allowing encrypted connections.
- Increase performance and stability by reducing the SAP system workload.
The only setup that you need to setup the ewa connection without saprouter is:
On remote system:
Map any firewall port to a destination IP, like 3299; once on RFC you can set connection string like that "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" ( public ip on your solution manager ).
On solution manager:
Map same port to your solution manager server saprouter.
However, the best way to setup any ewa is trought saprouter.

Luis

Hi Sridhar,
You should able to generate EWA for your satelite systems in SOLMAN without connecting to SAP.
First of all, update ST-PI and ST-API to latest level. And in SDCCN for each satellite system, just set the RFC to your solman.
Thanks,
Nicholas Chang
