SAP router is shutting down automatically

Former Member

Hi All,

I have configured SAP router and started SAP router service using command in command prompt and left command window unclosed. It is working for some time and after regular intervals automatically it is shutting down. So, I need to check and start manually. There is no SAP router service in services list. I guess this might be the problem.

Can anyone please tell me the solution?

Note: I have done all this in Solution Manager System.

OS : Windows 2008

DB: SQL Server

Thanks in Advance

Uday.

Hi,

Is only the SAP Router stopping automaticall or the cmd window is closed as well ?

Incase only the Router is stopped automatically, check trace files to get more information about the cause.

You should also consider reading SAP Note 41054 to configure the script as a NTS Service.

Hope this helps.

Varun

Hi Siva,

I have done as you suggested but nothing comes.

After executing the command again prompt comes, so again I started service manually.

Hi Arjun,

You might be right. So, what should I ask our network team to do??

Thanks in advance

Hi Uday,

1). Can you check with your system team to check Anti-Virus running on the system, if yes, stop the service of Anti-Virus and start the Router and see how long it's running.

2). Please check in Eventviewer of SAP router system, why the router fails.

3). Check you with Network team about the Firewall settings on the Router system ?

4). Check for what are the Other applications installed on the system and stop the services, if not required.

Hello Uday,

Please check router log files for root cause of this issue.

I suggest you to run saprouter service in background using the following command.

C:\usr\sap\saprouter\saprouter.exe service -r -R C:\usr\sap\saprouter\saprouttab

Thanks,

Hi Uday,

If you open the command prompt and start the Router, the Router stop when you close the command prompt or logoff the session.

Can you please try to start the SAPRouter in the background with below command and check how it behaves

saprouter &

refer to the link below

You can also configure SApRouter as service

"note # 525751 - Installation of the SNC SAPRouter as NT Service"

Here is the command to create service in Windows

sc create "service name" binPath= "path of service" DisplayName="Displayname"

Hope above helps

Hi Varun,

Thanks for helpful answer.

Only SAP router is stopping not the window.

I have tried installing SAProuter as NT service.

After creating service should I need to reboot the system?

Hi Sravanthi,

Thanks for helpful answer.

I have started SAProuter with 'saprouter -r &' command. Let me see the result.

And also I installed a service as NT service( According to note 525751).

Service was created successfully but when I select saprouter service and start(services.msc) it is getting terminated with the following error:

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

Hi Siva,

Thanks for your response.

I have started SAProuter service using 'saprouter -r &' command, let me see this how long it works.

Then I will start the service as you suggested.

Thanks & regarda

Hi Uday,

Can you check the Event Viewer for error message on why the service fails ?

Did you start the service after saprouter -r & command ? If yes, since router is already UP, the NT service might not start. You can try the NT router service when you get chance to stop saprouter manually.

Hello Uday,

Check this link:

Its windows platform, and I faced lots of issues which gets resolved in windows just after reboot.

Hi Sravanthi,

I have started service using 'saprouter -r &' command.

Now, I can able to make up without shutdown saprouter service but here is the new problem araises.

I can login using router string but OSS1 and SAPOSS RFC connection is getting failed, this leads to failing SAP Notes download to application server using SNOTE.

If I start with following command I can get successful OSS1 connectio.

E:\usr\sap\saprouter>saprouter -r -G log -V 2 -K "p:CN=<hostname>, OU=0001235041, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE".

So again I started with above command which is failing after 8-10 hours.

Thanks in advance,

Uday

Group: EWA

LOGON SECURITY TAB:

Client: 000

User: OSS_RFC

Password: CPIC

Please tray this and if it is not working please let me know

Hello Amith,

Thaks for quick response...

Kindly read again what I have written in the message. My problem is SAProuter service is shutting down automatically not with OSS1. I was successful in OSS1 if I start service with E:\usr\sap\saprouter>saprouter -r -G log -V 2 -K "p:CN=<hostname>, OU=0001235041, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE".

Thanks

Dear Uday,

As you mentioned, now you are able to start saprouter without any issue but you face problem in SAPOSS connection.

So have you done the following configuration in OSS1 after restart of saprouter using command 'saprouter -r &' .

Run Transaction OSS1

Go to Parameter -> Technical Settings

Mention the approprite details as given by SAP & your SAPRouter details

Save it.

Now it will generate an RFC SAPOSS with appropriate authoriations.

Hi Uday,

Can you check Anti-Virus or any other service running which causing the router to shutdown ? Looks like, its not problem with router but something else like Firewall or another application causing the issue.

Hello Siva,

I have tried with the command suggested by you but doesn't work.

Hello Arjun,

We don't have firewall enabled in the system...so I guess it must not be problem with firewall.

Is there any other ideas?

Thanks in Advance,

Uday.
