Hello, I have a question regarding promoting my objects. I have created a BW development connection in IDT 4.0 for IDT - Development. Do I need to create QA and Production connections as well? and then promote all these three connections or is there a different way of doing this? Thanks.

I think one way of not having to create different connections is to have the same connection name, username and password for all 3 environments (Dev/QA/Prod). I could be wrong though.

so you are saying that we MUST create 3 connections? because the server address would be different from one another even when username/pw are the same. please confirm.

You need not to create 3 connection for different environment

Have look in to 1570946 - No Mapping options in LCM in BI4

Resolution

Go to manage Systems and set one of the systems as an "origin".

Once you have specified the Origin, scan the system for connections, this is the system that originates the connection to all the systems in the landscape.

The scanned connections are tagged "Inactive", you need to set them as "Active".

Only connections tagged "Active" are promoted.

Now login to Destination, and edit the connection with an updated value and set the connection as "Active".

Promote the job
