Dear All,

we have 2 server ecc 6.

1. production

2. backup

right now my sap bw connect to ecc production.

we have plan to use backup instead of production

is it enough just simply changing the IP and host name at the current RFC connection.

from IP production to IP backup server ?

without creating new RFC connection ?

is there any procedure that we have to do before or after the changes ?

please advice

Hello Dady,

You have to take care of RFCs, Logical system names and RSA1 stuff in order to use backup ECC server instead of Production.

I suggest you to go through the following document for better understanding. It's strongly recommended to take offline backup before you attempt to modify source system configuration in BW system.

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70a7b233-8be5-2c10-4190-aed723af5...

Good Luck.

Thanks,

Siva Kumar

Hi Dedy,

Changing the Host name on the current RFC will point it to your backup ECC system.

Again the RFC logon data tab will have specif client specified which sometimes can help system to understand what Logical system you are trying to connect to.

For example if its client 500 it will pick the logical system assigned to that client.

If in case that doesn't work, on BI / BW the transaction data gets loaded from logical system so you need to go to RSA1 and in source system you need to maintain the logical system of the Backup system which will in turn be using the ABAP RFC which you created.

Hello Dady,

I will suggest you to

First create logical system in backup and assign it to the client you need to use using SCC4.

make new RFC with logical system name of "backup-prd server".

In both server, make entry of logical client using BD54.

Generate and distribute Partner profile in t-code SALE in BW system.

Once done you can generate it in ECC backup.

After that proceed with RSA1 for creation/replication of datasource.

hi,

Not only Rfc, if logical system between ecc prod and back up are different, you might need to run Bdls for ecc in BW system.

You should create new or change existing source system in Rsa1, partner profiles..BDLS takes care of mentioned steps.
