CX_SY_EXPORT_NO_SHARED_MEMORY exception error

Former Member

Hi Basis Gurus,

In my BW 3.5 version with oracle 9.2.0.8 with sunos5.9 with 640 Kernel ,Whenever users are trying to execute query, they are getting this exception and it terminates the connection to server

i checked a OSS note 702728 and all query properties, system settings are correct.

I should set the parameters in the instance profiles:

rsdb/esm/max_objects 1000

rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb 32768.

But in my existing instance profile i could not see these profiles. Is that mean i have to add these parameters to avoid this exception and restart the instance .Kindly provide me a help

Regards

Ram

Hi Amit,

I have checked in rz10 and rz11.The parameters rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb and rsdb/esm/max_objects are present in rz11.The existing value for rsbd/esm/buffersize is 4096kb and rsdb/esm/max_objects is 8192.Let me know what further can be done. to change them. And why is it not available at OS level when i went inside the Instance profile

I went to that pdflink and note too and links .It is better for me to change rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb to 30MB so that this exception can be avoided.Kindly provide me your valuable inputs

Hello Ram,

Once you will set the parameter in RZ10, it will be available in profile file.

So you proceed and make new entry in RZ10.

Do you need the process ,how to change in RZ10, or you can do?

Hi Amit,

i can do the change and proceed on.But i have an another issue that might rise up as if i increase the parameterof shared memory, it will have impact in Physical RAM size ,Roll in, roll out too.So is it advisable to do this as this might cause further issues due to addition of parameters

Hello Ram,

Memory management is really mind boggling task.It all depends on your hardware configuration as well.

So please go through some good books or on google for memory management thing or below mentioned link :

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/02/96279d538111d1891b0000e8322f96/content.htm

And you can proceed with the parameters change, as it can be reverted back in few mins only,if you face any issues.

Can you let us know, what is your RAM and swap space in your system?

Is it production system?

Hi Amit,

prtconf |grep Memory

Memory size: 24576 Megabytes

prtconf |swap -s

Hello Ram,

SAP suggests to keep swap size = 3 times of RAM.

SAP has suggested once through OSS message to us for some parameters when we were facing memory issues.

I am giving you those parameters, but dont change it untill and unless you face some problem.

And have you put those two parameters in RZ10 for reporting issue, is it solved now?

abap/heap_area_nondia = 500000000

abap/heap_area_total = 2000000000

abap/heaplimit = 20000000

em/initial_size_MB = 8192

em/blocksize_KB = 4092

em/address_space_MB = 4092

ztta/roll_extension = 2000000000

ztta/roll_area = 2000000

Hello Ram,

Can you check these parameters in RZ11, if there also its not present then you add it using RZ10.

After that you have to restart the system, and try to execute the querry.

Also check this pdf : http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c028f7b3-5943-2e10-3abb-ae16fe7df...

Lets see if it resolves your issues,
