SRM MDM Connection test fails with Repo port number

Former Member

Dear Experts

My MDM server version is on MDM 7.1 SP08 and the MDM Java API and Catalog UI are also on the same SP level.

When I'm doing connection test with just the server name, the test passes.

However when I add the repository port (for eg. 2005) the test ends with error.

Any reason why this happens?

Regards

Hi Deepak

Sorry for the delayed reply..

There is no port parameter in the SPRO settings. Has the usage of Port in MDM phased-out or something?

Because apart from this error everything else is in working fine!!

Hello,

Use a different Port number and check.

Hi Swarna,

Port no. should be 20005 not 2005.Please check if you have put it correctly.

Hi Abhishek

I tried with different port, same error...

Hi Neethu

But my port value in Console is showing as 2005, why is it 20005?

Hi Swarna,

When u try to connect to MDM server it is the TCP/IP port no. which u should provide not repository port no.

20005 is the standard default port for MDM server.

Try with it once or else it will be some other issue.

Hi Neethu

Tried with 20005, same error occurs......

Now I'm getting the doubt whether it isnt working only for me or this functionality is no longer there?

Hello,

[List of TCP/IP Ports used by SAP|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/4e515a43-0e01-0010-2da1-9bcc452c280b?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true]

This provides a list of the standard ports.

Also refer this [Help Site|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/46/28dac6b8bc14dbe10000000a155369/content.htm]

check in the installation guide for mdm for ports details, i.e. available in service.sap.com/installmdm71

Hi Abhishek

Thanks for the documents. I tried with the port number for MDM (in our case 59950) the error persists.

is the test passing for you?

NOTE: I remember entering only the repository port in the connection test page while using older versions (MDM 7.1 SP04 or SP05 and the test did pass! !!)

Moreover I noticed that the "port" parameter is no longer needed in the webservice call structure settings.(previously we enter the repository port number here)

Thats the reason I'm getting the doubt whether the usage of Port in MDM Catalog scenario is deprecated !

Can the concerned product owners respond?

Hello,

For SP08 release you may refer 1573045 - SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 SP08 Release

For SP07 Note 1487853

For SP06 Note 1471203

In this you will get the details regarding the enhancements and functionality.

Else raise an OSS message with SAP, might be the case.

Abhishek

can you check your SPRO settings from SRM side ? check specifically web services configuration if there is something to do with repository port number.

also see if you have made trusted connection, below links can be useful
