Starting portal from script - STARTSAP failed echo -1

0 Kudos

Hello,

We have a EP 7.0 SP21 in a clustered environment. In order to make automatic restarts of the system (for backups, etc) we have created several scripts (.bat) that can be executed from our planning tool (CONTROLM) in order to stop and start our system.

We have 6 different scripts:

Stop Central Services --> Works fine

Stop Dialog Instance --> Works fine

Stop Central Instance --> Works fine

Start Central Services --> Works fine

Start Dialog Instance --> error

Start Central Instance --> error

When we execute the last two ones, the Dialog/Central Instance in fact starts, but we get the following error:

C:\Documents and Settings\adminctrlm>G:\usr\sap\XXX\J10\exe\startsap j2ee name=XXX nr=10

STARTSAP failed

Details are written to C:\Documents and Settings\adminctrlm\startXXX.log

C:\Documents and Settings\adminctrlm>echo -1

-1

When we check the log we get:

running G:\usr\sap\XXX\J10\exe\sapstart.exe j2ee name=XXX nr=10 -wait

SAPSTART finished successfully on XXX10, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:

G:\usr\sap\XXX\J10\exe\sapstart.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.

Although the portal starts correctly, our planning tool is fooled by the "STARTSAP failed" and it thinks the restarting is not working.

Is there any way to solve this?

Best regards,

Javier

Hello Naveen,

thanks for your answer. I have found a workaround: We now do not check for "failed" in the script, we have added the following line of code: "sapcontrol -nr xx -function GetProcessList" and then we count the number of "GREEN". If there are two greens, everything was ok
