Hi,
I have few doubts about using authorisation relevant on an infoobject.
1.I have one solution where one charcateristic infoobject has hierarchy on it and is made authorisation relevant. It is used in a cube and many reports. All our roles are based on the these hierarchy nodes. Its understandable that it works like this.
How about if a characteristic infoobject has hierarchy and is NOT made authorisation relevant and is used in a cube and reports? Can I still build roles on this?If not is there any other solution other than making authorisation relevant?
2.Suppose if I have a two characteristic infoobjects which are authorisation relevant and is part of a cube with data.Do I have to define roles on both authorisation relevant infoobjects or is it ok if we define on one infoobject and just ignore the other one but let it be in cube. How does it work?
Thanks.............
Hayward,

If the IO is not marked auth relevant, there is no need to build an analysis authorization for it, access to InfoArea/InfoCube will be sufficient for user to access the data. Also if IO is not marked auth relevant, you can not create analysis authorization.

Once IO is marked auth relevant, you will have to include it in analysis authorization with proper field values maintained.

Hi,
You will get all relevant informations regarding authorizations in SAP BW from following links :-
http://help.sap.com/bp_bw370/documentation/Authorization_BW_Proj.pdf
http://www.scribd.com/doc/28336078/Analysis-Authorizations
However you must have to create authorization for all the authorization relevant IO otherwise you will receive
"No Authorization" error when you execute the query based on that cube.
You can't create a role for the IO if its not authorization relevant.
