Urgent : JCO Destination ping unsuccessful

Former Member

Hello Experts,

<b>I want to create a JCO destination in my local WAS for a remote R/3.</b>

<b>Background of problem .</b>

1. We could connect to the remote R/3 via our logon pad

being in the VPN.

2. We have got RJ70 access for SLD configuration.

3. We have made host and services file entry in our end

(i.e WAS side)

4. Now We could able to register R/3 in My WAS's SLD

being in the VPN. i.e now i have a technical system

corresponding to that remote R/3.

5. At design time we are able to create models from NWDS.

<b>Few inputs regarding ports...</b>

1. We are not able to ping the R/3 being in VPN. the

ping port is blocked.

2. From remote R/3 side they have opened two telnet port

3200 and 3300. We could successfully do

telnet <server ip > 3200 and

telnet <server ip > 3300

3.how ever they have not opened 3600 port

telnet <server ip > 3600 is unsuccessful.

Now we are getting Error while ping and test the JCO destinations.

Is it necessary to have port 3600 accesses ?

Are there any alternatives?

While JCo test we r getting the following error

com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed Connect_PM TYPE=B MSHOST=sapud001 GROUP=Public R3NAME=UD1 MSSERV=sapmsUD1 PCS=1 ERROR connection to host sapud001, service sapmsUD1 timed out TIME Mon Sep 04 21:20:12 2006 RELEASE 640 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 37 RC -12 MODULE nixxi_r.cpp LINE 1078 DETAIL NiPConnect COUNTER 1

Can anybody help ?

Go to c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/services.

Open the services notepad and add the message server name(sapmsUD1 3600/tcp) in the notepad.

And then try restarting the cluster.
